I have seen this million dollar spaghetti recipe all over the internet that I just had to give it a try, but also a healthy version that meets more of our dietary needs.
I made it high protein with barilla protein pasta and a cottage cheese Alfredo sauce! I also used ground turkey to make it a healthier dinner idea option.

I want so also share with you some of my favorite kitchen tools and products to help me make this recipe, like this Rose gold serving spoon

Let’s be honest, I just wanted an excuse to use my new Ninja Blender from Amazon.

I wanted a vitamix for so long but I don’t have vitamix money, so honey, when I saw this ninja had 1500 watts and all the attachments my heart could desire for only $149.99 (at the time of this posting), I got so giddy! I’ve used my friends’ vitamix before and this is just as great at making my protein smoothies with spinach so I don’t even know I’m drinking spinach!

I used it this time to blend up the cottage cheese for that extra protein and low sodium Alfredo sauce.

But it’s only low sodium if you use the no salt added low fat cottage cheese that has only 45mg of sodium per 1/2 cup, compared to 300-400mg with most other brands like good culture cottage cheese. Also these Gold measuring cups are from Amazon and are an inexpensive way to fancy up your kitchen.

I feel like they go well with this Pink cutting board from the Paris Hilton collection on Amazon. It comes in a set of 3 and I love using the little one for fruit and stuff when I’m working from home and my husband is at work.

I also love these Condiment bottles from Amazon for things like my olive oil because those containers that olive oil comes in are so big I feel like I always use too much when I’m cooking so this helps limit it. I also like them for dressings and sauces because when you’re cooking low sodium meals, it’s hard to find store bought condiments, so usually you have to make your own.

These cute cat covers from Amazon for the handle of the cast iron so I don’t burn my hand is genius!

I’ve been also using these Clear organizers from Amazon for my spices. So I have a this little one for my every day spices and then a big one for all my other spices like

this mushroom powder extract by Ellie’s best from Amazon.

And these Cat oven mitts from Amazon are great for a childless cat lady like me.

Ingredients:
- Barilla Protein Pasta (I used penne but you can use any noodle you love)
- 8oz shredded mozzarella (you can use Swiss if you wanted even less sodium)
Bolognese
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 2 peppers, chopped (I used orange and yellow but you can do any color)
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tsp each garlic powder, onion powder, mushroom powder, paprika, black pepper
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 jar low sodium red sauce (I used sprouts marinara but yo mama is good too)
Cottage Cheese Alfredo
- 16 oz no salt added low fat cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup plain non fat Greek yogurt
- 1/2-1 cup plain unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp fresh cracked pepper
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Sauté onion and peppers and start putting your pot of water on high heat for the noodles and boil those according to package directions
- After about 5 mins, add the ground turkey and bolognese seasonings to the pan
- Once cooked through, add your red sauce and let simmer while you finish boiling your noodles and preparing your other ingredients
- In a blender or food processor, add everything for the cottage cheese Alfredo, except for the Italian seasoning and fresh cracked pepper. Add those two after you have blended your mixture. Add that to your noodles after you have drained and cooled them a bit
- Then in a 13×9, add half your noodles, then half the bolognese, then half the cheese and repeat
- Bake for about 20 mins, ending on broil for a minute to get your cheese bubbly and brown
- Enjoy!

You should let your high protein low sodium million dollar spaghetti cool before eating but sometimes you just can’t wait…
