I want to share some of the Amazon products I used for this butter cookie recipe that really makes your life easier and also produces better results, especially when working with gluten free baking flour. Speaking of gluten free baking flour, I strictly use Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 Gluten Free Baking Flour.

I find it is very effective in the 1 to 1, especially when you use a food scale for measurements. I love this pink one.

I also recommend sifting your dry ingredients. I’ve used a sieve more times than I can count, but this old school traditional style sifter is so much easier. I was surprised when I saw they still make the same style for cheap on Amazon.

I love these metal bowls because they come in a set for all my baking needs but more importantly, they’re super light weight!

I absolutely adore Ellie’s Best products. I have used beet root powder before and didn’t have good luck but their blend is far superior and actually makes your food pink with all the added antioxidants and benefits that come with consuming beet root juice powder, like lowering your blood pressure because who actually eats beets?

These pink measuring spoons from Amazon and are metal so they’ve held up super well. They’re my new favorite. I find them to be the most accurate, as well.

I also recommend a stand mixer for this butter cookie recipe for Valentine’s Day. It just makes creaming the butter so much easier on your hands and takes way less time. Please also be sure to scrape down the sides every so often so that your cookie ingredients are well incorporated as you go along.

You do not need a piping tip and bag, but it sure does make these heart shaped cookies much cuter! If you don’t want to splurge, just snip the tip on a ziploc bag for your heart design.

I recommend putting your piping bag in a glass to help you fill it easier.

Did I mention this pink and gold background is just wrapping paper? It’s a trick I use to save money on those backgrounds you can buy and then you have the wrapping paper to use for whatever holiday you need. I’m going to use this for Valentine’s Day, but also Mother’s Day and baby showers too.

Make sure to leave room between your heart cookies as you pipe them because they will spread as they bake.

Dipping these butter cookies in chocolate is optional but I quite like the way they look, but more importantly the way they taste! I’ve found a lot of luck with Ghirardelli melting waters recently. They melt great without needing to add a fat of some sorts to thin it out.

All you have to do is microwave your chocolate in 20 second intervals and stir in between each. I like to use these white ramekins. I use them for everything from in the oven to the air fryer to even just a bowl of cereal. They’re the perfect size.

Look at that gorgeous chocolate on that gorgeous gold spoon.

You must let your heart shaped gluten free beet root powder butter cookies cool on the baking sheet for at least 10 minutes before putting them on a cooling rack.

Then make sure they’re cooled completely before dipping in chocolate.

I added some cute Valentines Day Sprinkles for the Valentine’s Day vibe.

These little gold espresso spoons make it easier to sprinkle the sprinkles. Those little glass bowls that hold the sprinkles are just from the dollar tree.

The red nail polish, pink nail polish and clear top coat are all just Sally Hansen. She’s that queen. Best non UV light polish I’ve found that lasts. The nail decal is just a sticker from Amazon I put on before the top coat.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F
  2. Beat butter and sugar together in a stand mixer for 5 minutes until creamy
  3. Add egg yolk and vanilla
  4. Sift flour, beet root powder and salt, then add and mix until incorporated
  5. Pipe butter cookies in desired shape, I prefer the heart for Valentine’s Day but you can just do a circle swirl vibe too
  6. Bake 10-12 minutes (my oven was literally 11 minutes but all oven temperatures vary so keep an eye on at least the first batch to gauge your timing and know they’re ready when they’re golden around the edges)
  7. Cool for 10 minutes on the baking sheet then remove to a cooling rack
  8. Melt chocolate in 20 second intervals in your microwave and dip just the tip of your completely cooled hearts into the chocolate and immediately add sprinkles before the chocolate dries
  9. Enjoy!
