How cute are these?!?! I wanted to make these chocolate covered pretzel trees so bad but didn’t know what to do with them.
So I made a cupcake Christmas tree Forest! These are surprisingly easy to make, they just require waiting periods, so it takes longer but the cuteness overload is totally worth it to wow your holiday guests this Christmas season!
I use box cake mix with a fun twist! If you wanted to just use white chocolate and milk chocolate for the trees because you may already have that on hand, that would be just as holly and jolly!
If you make these ahead of time, store the pretzels separately and put them in the cupcakes right before serving or the pretzels will soften from the moisture in the cake/frosting.
I got these cute rainbow cupcake liners from amazon! They come with a couple other designs too!
The piping bags for the chocolate and tip for the frosting came in a set from amazon too!
Ingredients:
- Yellow Box Cake Mix (and the ingredients on the back usually eggs, oil and water)
- Pistachio Instant Pudding Mix
- 15oz dark chocolate chips
- Pint of whipping cream
- Pretzel Sticks
- Colorful Melting Chocolate
- Sprinkles for decoration
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F
- Prepare cake mix acccording to the package directions, but add in the instant pudding mix with the cake mix
- Full cupcake liners in a cupcake pan and bake according to package directions
- Prepare the ganache by heating the cream in the microwave or stove and pouring over chocolate chips
- Let the cream and chocolate chips sit for 5 minutes and then whisk until a pretty ganache
- Cover and pop in the fridge to set
- Make the pretzels by melting the chocolate and making trees on top of your pretzels sticks on some parchment paper, add sprinkles as ornaments and let set before removing
- Once the ganache has set, whip using a hand mixer or stand mixer until frosting consistency, about 2 minutes
- Frost cooled cupcakes and add pretzels trees before serving
- Enjoy!
