Healthy Ground Turkey Meatloaf Recipe (Low Sodium)

As some of you already know, I’ve gotten a lot of dental work done recently and need to eat soft foods. I decided now was the time to try my hand at a healthy low sodium ground turkey meatloaf! And WOWWWWW!

It’s so incredibly delicious, filling, hearty, moist, flavorful and everything I wanted it to be! We loved it so much, I currently have more meatloaf in the oven as I write this recipe blog post! First, I’m going to share some helpful processes and information for this recipe to help you along the way.

Because I have to have everything soft, I blended my onions and peppers using my ninja from Amazon. But feel free to keep them chopped or diced. Either way, I recommend sautéing them for extra flavor.

I use a little olive oil from my squeeze bottle because I always overestimate my olive oil with the big hole that is an olive oil bottle. It’s from Amazon, as will be all other products mentioned in this recipe blog post.

The first time I blended my onions and peppers and then reduced them with my wooden spatula but this time I sautéed them first, then blended them. I recommend the latter but you live your life.

For the glaze, I used nature’s promise 50% less sodium & sugar ketchup and then I did Splenda Brown Sugar to reduce the sugar, as well. I make this first because I use part of it in the turkey meatloaf mixture itself, as well.

Also, I got this pink silicone spatula set and it came with this itty bitty one and I was like welp I’m never going to use that, until I did. It’s perfect for getting the last bit of ketchup out of the bottle or even scooping ingredients out of the measuring spoon. Genius.

Then I just use my cute little gold whisk to mix all the glaze ingredients together.

Then I pull out my main spices from my clear organizer container and measure out everything I need into a large metal bowl because that’s what we’re going to mix the all the ground turkey in.

I highly recommend this mushroom powder by Ellie’s Best for extra healthy benefits and more umami flavor.

I like to let the onions and peppers cool off a bit before adding to the mixture so that it doesn’t accidentally scramble the eggs.

I love these pink silicone spatulas so much. They come in a set which is helpful and inexpensive for all of your cooking and baking needs.

I form the ground turkey meatloaf into two loaves so the meat bakes through thoroughly. I used to use a bread pan for meatloaf but I quite like doing it on a lined baking sheet for more browning on the edges. I also prefer to use disposable gloves when working with meat, but if you use your hands, just make sure not to touch anything else before you wash your hands thoroughly.

Then just divide the glaze equally over the top of each meatloaf loaf.

I just use the back of a spoon to smear the glaze over the meatloaf. I like to have it drip down the edges a little bit because it makes this meatloaf even more delicious.

And that’s all she wrote, folks. It’s an unassuming ground turkey meatloaf but it’s healthy, low sodium, low sugar and PACKED WITH FLAVOR!

I cut each meatloaf into 6 pieces, for a total of 12. I added all the ingredients into MyFitnessPal and those are the specs for one slice, if that was something you were interested in.

I served mine healthy ground turkey meatloaf with some baby potatoes I made in the microwave so that they were soft for me to eat because I didn’t feel like making mashed potatoes. I tossed the potatoes in some olive oil and seasonings. Amazing!

Tag me on social media when you make this delicious meatloaf! I always love seeing your creations! I’d also love to see what side dish you served your meatloaf with! I had leftover meatloaf with some baked ziti I made and it acted as meatballs and was my new favorite dinner idea!

Ok love you bye
