McDonald’s McSalad Shaker Meal Prep Ideas

Remember when McDonald’s was healthy? Completely kidding but I did rock with those McDonald’s McSalad Shakers back in the early 2000’s! So, let’s make our own because I need more healthy convenient meals in my fridge.

Listen, you can make these salads any way your heart desires, this is just my current hyperfixation.

I use these 32 oz deli containers from Amazon. I do not throw them away, I wash them. But also they’re cheap enough where if my husband accidentally leaves one in his truck for days on end, it’s going in the trash, you feel me?

Then I add grilled chicken to the bottom. I just buy some chicken breast, marinate them in Italian dressing for a half hour and then grill and use my thermometer to know when they reach a minimum internal temperature of 165°F.

I add a slice of bacon, crumbled, to each one.

Thinly sliced red onion

Peppers (I used a mixture of red, orange and yellow)

Cucumbers

Sliced almonds (usually I do pepitas or sunflower seeds but that’s what I had on hand, again, make these babies however your heart desires)

Shredded cheddar

Spinach

Romaine (reminder to wash your vvegetables well)

I do use disposable condiment containers to measure out my dressing. I’m obsessed with this Greek yogurt Caesar dressing by Nature’s Promise and then also I’ve been digging Trader Joe’s Green Goddess Dressing to switch it up. I use my food scale to measure out a serving size.

And then I put the condiment cup in the deli containers and it’s all ready to go!

Then you just pull out your dressing cup

Pour

Shake & eat!

Even though I eat lunch at home, these are so helpful with my chronic illness and my adhd. It’s a healthy easy way to just grab and get some nutrients and food. And of course it’s perfect for my husband to grab in the morning to take with him to work.

Sometimes we will eat these for dinner too, shake it up and throw it on a whole wheat carb balance mission tortilla because it has so much fiber!

This is the perfect healthy meal prep for 2 that always hits the spot.

Thanks for the idea, McDonald’s!
