Crab Dip Smashed Potatoes Recipe

Maryland blue crab are the best crab ever! Crab dip is one of best appetizers ever! Smashed potatoes bring crab dip to a whole new appetizer level for any event this summer!

  1. Add red potatoes to a large pot and fill with water. Bring to a boil and let cook for 20-25 minutes until fork tender
  2. Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet and spray with oil. Using the bottom of a glass, push down on each potato to smash it, but don’t push all the way down, just enough to make more surface area
  3. Melt butter in the microwave and add a little dried parsley, garlic powder and grated Parmesan, then brush on your smashed potatoes
  4. Bake in a preheated 400°F for about a half hour, flipping halfway through

While the smashed potatoes are baking, you can start on the crab dip.

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp mayo
  • 1/2-1 tsp old bay
  • A dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz Maryland blue crab meat
  • Shredded cheddar (for on top)
  • Green onion & bacon (optional garnish)

Mix together the cream cheese, mayo, Worcestershire sauce and old bay. Then gently fold in the crab meat.

Then add a dollop on top of your smashed potatoes when they come out of then oven

Add shredded cheese

And bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melty

Then you can add the optional garnish of green onion and bacon
